I am so very sorry for your loss. Ronnie was more than just a doctor to me, he was my hero. At Carraway Methodist Hospital, in Birmingham, Alabama, my gastric bypass ruptured at 6 months out. I called him at 1am on Feb.5,2001,& he advised me to come to the hospital thinking it may be a hernia. Back story, I had known Ronnie since 1984 through marriage, but didnt know he was the doctor on call. He decides surgery & asks if it's OK to pray over me. Didn't remember this because I was in such pain. He said after in OR he needed more prayer. Long story short, after in a coma for 2wks (20% chance to survive) I am here today because of my hero, my God fearing prayer warrior. Kim and boys, he was/is a hero for God and his family and his patients. A Wonderful legacy to tell your children and grandchildren. I am saddened for your loss but I know where he is, my God fearing, Jesus Christ loving, prayer warrior. I owe my life to him.
I am heartbroken to learn of Dr. Clements' death. He was a Godsend for me. We worked for a year assessing my candidacy for gastric bypass. I had the surgery in 2005 at UAB. Dr. Clements was supportive, very strictly monitoring me for about a year. I will never forget crying and hugging him when he told me he was leaving for Vanderbilt. His expertise in surgery, and his guidance afterwards, have been life changing for me. I have continued to follow his advice and have been successful in keeping my weight down. I want the family to know the lives he touched and the way he cared for his patients. I am so sorry for the loss of such a great physician and good man, who left us all too soon. I remember how fondly he spoke of his boys and wife. I always asked him about them. RIP, my friend.
I was one of Dr. Clements' secretaries at UAB. He was the best boss I have ever had. He was caring toward both his patients and his staff and he was a wonderful man of God. I still have a copy of the lighthouse picture that he had in his office. He told me a great story behind that picture and I will treasure it always. I am praying for Kim, Austin, and RJ and will continue to do so now and in the future.
One of your last text message to me said, "My Lord and Savior Lord Jesus is with me." That says it all. Go home now, because the Master wants to tell you that you have been a good and faithful servant. We'll take care of the family while we're all still here, but be assured we will join you in no time. With our Love, Ed & Juliana
Thankful for Dr. Clements' life and his impact on our sweet Jess. He will be deeply missed by many; those who knew him personally and those who didn't, but I am so happy that he is finally free from pain and I cannot wait to see him again someday.
