Colleen the Resourceful Woman

Colleen and I worked together supporting our children at Brentwood High School. Together we started the Parents of Graduating Students (POGS) 2003; Corey's graduating year, after Colleen's successful organization efforts with POGS 1999 (Grant's graduating year). Colleen was a dreamer and a creator. She consistently surprised me with her ideas for monthly gifts for our graduating students. Colleen was a woman who could take just about anything and turn it into something. Decorating tables? She had it! Colleen made beautiful creations at minimum cost. Something needed for an event? Colleen found a way to make things work and turned other peoples discarded items into artful creations. Colleen taught me something about raising children as well. She told me: Every child has his or her gifts. I will celebrate those gifts and never compare what one child has to another. Colleens words of wisdom have stayed with me throughout my years of raising my own two children. Colleen helped those in need and never wanted anything in return. When I think of resourcefulness, resilience, and persistence, the person that first comes to my mind is Colleen. I know she is in heaven organizing a fabulous event! I will miss her with all my heart.
