In the short time I knew him, his warm honesty always showed him to be a man of dignity, respect for his fellow man and woman, and a very honorable respect for the law. I felt grief when my father, who knew him for decades as a US attorney as well, they had mutual respect for each other. I was literally about to go to his office to give him a New Years family photo card of my 3 and 6 year old, then dad told me passed away. I enjoyed buying him his favorite cigars- my way of showing him my sincere appreciation and gratitude for helping my sons and my father, Doug Thoresen. He wouldn't let me pay him " out of respect for your dad". He touched my life in a way that isn't easy to put into words because I didn't see him much. I believe God put him in my life. I only wish I had the time to give back to him. God bless your family. My father and I felt much sadness we didn't know he passed, in order to honor his life of service and pay our respects and love at his service. I'm grateful to his family for providing this website. If dad and I could bring flowers to where he was layed to rest, we would appreciate that very much. My father is Doug Thoresen, retired United States prosecutor, assistant attorney general and Federal Public Defender. They were friends for many many years, and it was privledge to meet him. I've been praying for ya'll at church. Please let me know if I can cook some homemade from scratch comfort meals for your family or do any work for ya'll. I'll be lighting a candle for Judge Williams at mass this morning.
What a fine man that was loved by his family. Our grandson and his nephew, Branfon Rabun, loved and admired his uncle. Thank you Ernie for sharing your love and life with him. Our deepest sympathy to the family.
Ernie was a great man, a strong leader, honorable, wise, loyal and patient. He was a southern gentleman through and through, who loved the Lord, his wife, children and was able to see the big picture in life and in his work. he cared about my son little Charlie and wanted the best for him and fought for him and for my rights as a father. we would always talk about his Grandson Ford and my son Charlie and what their latest accomplishment was. I am so grateful to God that I got to have such a pleasant visit with the great man on his 69th birthday and see him at peace, smiling, laughing, and enjoying his birthday and the affection of those around him. there is no doubt where Ernie has gone, to God's Heavenly Kingdom to rejoin his wife and parents who he dearly loved. I was honored to know him and be represented by him, and Ernie will be sorely missed.
Ernie was a lifesaver. I love him like a brother and know that he is resting with his wife. Thank you Ernie for all you did for me and my family. I will remember you always.
Ernie was a very special friend, and one of the finest persons I have ever met. He will always be in my heart. Sending much love to Matt, Heather, and the entire family. You will be in my thoughts and prayers.
