Obituary for Roberta "Bobbie" J. Wright Hulme

Roberta Jane Wright Hulme died peacefully at home on September 25, 2018 at the age of 94 years. “Bobbie” was born in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma on July 5, 1924. Bobbie was a gracious, strong, devoted, and cherished wife, mother, grandmother and friend who was the heart of her family. She blessed all with her beautiful laugh and authentic capacity to be a loving presence with each, offering encouraging words and making each person feel heard and supported. She was a devout Christian who lived her heartfelt beliefs and values while honoring other spiritual traditions and being a strong supporter of women's/human rights and democratic ideals. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 65 years, Robert Wyatt Hulme; her parents, Robert Gentle Wright and Irma Hunter Wright; and brothers: William Dan de Quille Wright (Mary) and John Jacob Wright. She is survived by her four daughters; Jan Hulme Shepard, Joyce Murley, Carole Hulme Parmer and Susan Hulme (Marshall Morgan). Grandchildren include Adam Shepard (Karen), Lia Shepard Flynn (Mike), Jackson Murley (Ethan Pan), Mark Crawford (Courtney), Jacob Crawford, Marshall Morgan III (Lynn), Grace Wright and Andrew Wright. Her great-grandchildren include Cloe, Ian, Wyatt, Ruby, Wyatt Francis, Liam, Hunter, Shane, and Mark IV. Also, she is survived by sister-in-law; Lou Watson Hulme, nephew; Isaac Hulme III plus other nieces, nephews and cousins. She was also “Granny” to Sara, Virginia, Rose Elaine and Joe. Bobbie attended Oklahoma University and Oklahoma College for Women at Chickasha, Oklahoma. While at Chickasha she met her future husband, Bob, who was in flight training for the Army Air Corps. Bobbie was a member of Bethlehem United Methodist Church. Pastor David Bradley will officiate at the private graveside service. Her grandsons will serve as honorary pallbearers. Visitation with the family will be from 10-12 p.m. Saturday, September 29, 2018 at Williamson Memorial Funeral Home. If desired, in lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to Bethlehem Methodist Church or to Mercy Community Healthcare, Franklin, Tennessee.
