Clifton Wade Sledge, age 80 longtime resident of Franklin, TN passed away August 6, 2018 after an extended illness surrounded by his loving family. As a native of Franklin, TN he was dedicated to his community. He was active in the city and served as Alderman from 1979 – 1986. He worked diligently in that capacity when Franklin was just beginning to grow. He retired from Murphy Oil Corp as Sales Manager with the wholesale division after 43 years of service. Wade was an avid golfer and loved the game very much. Preceded in death by parents, Clifton & Lorene White Sledge and brother, Earl Sledge. Survived by: wife, Ann King Sledge; daughters, Denise Sledge Sutton and Michelle Sledge (Chris) Johns; grandchildren, Amanda Bailey and Ashley (Jacob) Jewell; great grandchildren, Cooper & Tucker Bailey, Adler & Sloane Jewell. Funeral services will be conducted 11:00 AM Thursday, August 9, 2018 at Williamson Memorial Funeral Home, Jim Taylor and Larry Chatman officiating. Interment Williamson Memorial Gardens. Active pallbearers will be Wayne, Jimmy, Tandy, Steve and Kevin King, Jacob Jewell and Landon Bailey. Honorary pallbearers will be Bill Davis, Stanton Gunnells, Grant Mayfield, Terry Schmidt, Daniel Stephens, Mike Sledge and staff of Southern Care. Memorials may be made to Willowbrook Hospice.
