Condolence: You were one of the most unforgettable people I have ever known. You welcomed me into your life, and let me work with your magnificent thoroughbreds. You changed my world, Mr. Bates. As I write through my tears, I want everyone to know how much you meant to me and to my children. You were the salt of the earth. You offered to me your common sense logic, and you were never shy about offering to me your unsolicited opinions about anything. Mostly, you shared your wisdom with me. I valued that more than anything. I am so happy that we spent time together and I am Fortunate for the things that you taught me. I am no different than the innumerable people whose lives you changed, many of whom are reading this tribute right now, and nodding their heads in agreement with my words I am blessed to have encountered you on the road of life. I will never forget our times spent together at the track, watching races, seeing our horses win, and feeling that rush of excitement that these horses bring. Gardening was another thing we shared, but that's my Spring project without you, and I hope that you will be pleased. You were a great man. Truly great Rest in peace Mr. Bates, and thank you, Sir.
