I met Leon in 2008 when I first moved to Tennessee. He was my neighbor. Always looking out for me and my family, he had the kindest heart. Taught me many things like canning tomatoes. We had fun driving to Ethridge to purchase the produce and prepare our big day of making pickles, and other goodies. He was a great cook. We would always try to outdo one another. He would bring me a beer but chicken and I would bring him jalapeño poppers. I would usually bring a cold Coors light to share with him. Although sometimes he would break out the moonshine. Anything I ever needed he would be of help. He once played Santa and assembled my children’s Christmas gifts. He loved to stay busy. What a gardener he was. I was always in envy of the size of his cabbage heads, they were gigantic. I would live off one for weeks. Harpeth School Road will never be the same without that great man. Intil we meet again, my favorite farmer... XOXO
