Obituary for Dorien Armand “Don” Poisson

Dorien Armand “Don”  Poisson
Dorien Armand “Don” Poisson, age 95, passed away Wednesday, October 7, 2015.
He was born in Lewiston, Maine where he served two years as a member of the Civilian Conservation Corps. He entered the United States Army Air Corps one week after the U.S. entered WWII. He served during the entire war in Panama, Trinidad, Dalhart, Texas and Topeka, Kansas being honorably discharged in 1945.
Upon his return to Lewiston, he married Verna Dumais and they lived a very happy married life for 61 years. They had two daughters, Elaine Poisson Servais and Janet Poisson Olson. The family moved from Lewiston to Hialeah, Florida in the late 1940’s where Don worked for Pan American World Airlines and the Hialeah Hospital until his retirement in 1985. Don and Verna then enjoyed a very active retirement in the Cresthaven community of Lake Worth, Florida which included doting on grandchildren, U.S. and international travels and cruises. In 2001 both moved to Franklin, TN to be near to family.Don is preceded in death by his parents, Leopold Poisson and Cora Boisvert; wife, Verna Dumais; brothers Leo and Conrad Poisson and sisters, Cecile Freve and Yolande Carboneau (Corb).
Survivors include a brother, Robert (Bob) Poisson, Lewiston, Maine; daughters, Janet Poisson Olson and Elane Poisson Servais, their husbands, Richard Olson and Michael Servais; seven grandchildren: Aaron Olson, Sarah Olson Cox, Matthew Olson; Lisa Servais, Aimee Servais, Danielle Servais Carder and Jeff Servais; seven great grandchildren: Shelby Cox, Jacob Olson, Tyson Luisi, Violet and Tweel Carder, and Cora and Bennie Servais. Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association or Arthritis Foundation. Graveside service will be 2:00 PM Monday, October 12, 2015 at Middle Tennessee Veterans Cemetery, Father Bala Celebrant. Visitation will be 11:00 AM – 1:00 PM Monday at WILLIAMSON MEMORIAL FUNERAL HOME, 615 794-2289. www.williamsonmemorial.com
