Obituary for Robert Carl "Bob" Beikert, Sr.

Robert Carl "Bob" Beikert, Sr.
Robert Carl “Bob” Beikert, Sr., age 84, peacefully went home to heaven on January 26, 2015 surrounded by his wife and children. He was born March 26, 1930 in Butler, PA to the late Andrew and Margaret (Callen) Beikert who instilled in him the virtues of hard work, integrity, and frugality.

After graduating Butler HS 1948, The King’s College 1954, and Baptist Bible Seminary 1958, he moved his young family to the Philippines in 1963, serving as Business Manager/Field Treasurer for mission organization A.B.W.E. After 15 years of faithful service, he returned to the U.S. and was employed by Cedarville University (OH) as Purchasing/Personnel Director and later as Bookstore Manager before retiring in 1995 and moving to Franklin, TN, to be near his three daughters and their families. During his final days he was loved immensely and cared for tenderly by his family.

Bob had an amazing knack to repair literally anything – furniture, clocks, typewriters, pottery, shoes, electrical, plumbing, and cars. No job was impossible! He enjoyed retirement as a self-employed handyman where his attention to detail kept him busy painting and wallpapering. Bob touched many lives and will be fondly remembered for his servant's heart, wry sense of humor, love of gardening, fishing, and camping, and his friendly handshake as a greeter on Sunday mornings.

He is survived by his devoted wife of 62 years, Grace (Hansen), loving children, Barbara (Steve) Wyer, Beth (Phil) Stoner, Bonnie (Jeff) Vickman, and Bob Jr. (Sue), 13 grandchildren, one great grandchild, sisters Jean Hunt, Marilou Washburn, Margaret “Margie” Mann, Naomi Seaver, Elisabeth “Betty” Pierson, and their spouses and families. His infant sister Carol Joy preceded him in death.

Private graveside service Friday January 30th at Christ Church Memorial Gardens with sons-in-law and grandsons serving as pallbearers. Friends are invited to a memorial service at Judson Baptist Church, Nashville, on Saturday January 31st at 1 pm. Visitation prior to service 10:30am–12:30pm.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to The Friends of Israel Ministry (www.foi.org).
