Obituary for Gladys McNeese "Bonnie" Giffen

GIFFEN, Gladys McNeese “Bonnie”, 90, formerly of Jackson, Tennessee, passed away on January 24, 2015 at NHC HealthCare/Franklin after a long battle with Alzheimer’s Disease. She was born on August 10, 1924 in Covington, KY to Luther and Marie McNeese and was raised in Dayton, Ohio. She was preceded in death by her husband David K. Giffen, who passed away in 2003, her parents, her brother, Jack McNeese and her grandson, Ben Giffen. Bonnie and Dave were married in 1947 after meeting at Ohio State University. Bonnie was a devoted mother, grandmother, avid golfer and frequent bridge player. She enjoyed spending time with her family as well as time at her homes in Jackson and Tucson, Arizona. She is survived by her children Karen Lee Jones (John) of Memphis, TN, David L. Giffen (Diana) of Louisville, KY, James T. Giffen (Martha) of Helena, AL and John M. Giffen (Michelle) of Franklin, TN. She is also survived by 10 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren. Per her request, her body was cremated. A memorial service for family and friends celebrating her life will be held later in February at Christ Community Church in Franklin. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials to the Alzheimer’s Association or the charity of the donor’s choice.
