Obituary for James Franklin " Dude " Collings

COLLINGS, James Franklin “Dude”, age 68, born 1943 in Knoxville, TN. Passed away May 22, 2012 from his battle with cancer. Survived by his devoted wife of 34 years, Virginia Hooven Collings; daughter, Heather Jane Collings (Craig) Renfroe of Charlotte, NC; sisters, Jane Collings of Huntsville, AL & Brenda Collings (Wayne) Carter of Shelbyville, TN. Preceded in death by his parents James Fullenwider & Ruth Curtis Collings. Graduate of Tullahoma High School Class of 1961. He was a Boy Scout in Troop 142, a member of the Order of the Arrow. Jim served his country in the U.S. Army. He worked his earlier years for the Tullahoma News and 34 years as a machinist for L&N/Seaboard/CSX Transportation, retired Oct. 31, 2004. He was a successful gardener and self-taught rancher. He was known for his love of nature. A celebration of life service will be held 1:00pm Friday, May 25, 2012 at Williamson Memorial Funeral Home, Rev. Tom Pierce officiating. Visitation will be held 4-8pm Thursday & 1 hour prior to the service on Friday. Burial in Williamson Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers, Phillip Coble, Frank Reed, John Francis, Paul Coble, Terry Coble, Curtis Hopper. Honorary Pallbearers will be the employees of the railroad. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Willow Brook Hospice, 381 Riverside Dr. Suite 440, Franklin, TN 37064 or The Boy Scouts of America, 3414 Hillsboro Pike, Nashville, TN 37215.
